KiNBY

Terms of Service

Last updated 14 September 2026 · KiNBY Care Solutions · Ontario, Canada

The short version. KiNBY Suite is $39.95 a month. You can cancel any time and the month you have paid for always finishes. If a payment fails you keep full access for another 14 days. If it lapses after that, you can still read, print and export everything you ever entered — we never delete a family's record. KiNBY records and displays what you type; it does not give medical advice. KiNBY does not screen, verify or vet the nurses and caregivers on KiNBY Connect — checking and choosing is the family's alone.

Who you are dealing with

KiNBY is made by KiNBY Care Solutions, based in Ontario, Canada. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean KiNBY Care Solutions, and "you" means the person who takes out a subscription — or, on KiNBY Connect, the nurse or caregiver who makes a free account. Reach us at hello@kinby.ca.

What you are subscribing to

A KiNBY Suite subscription covers three apps: KiNBY Connect, KiNBY Chart (which includes AboutMe) and KiNBY Teams. One subscription covers one family — the person receiving care, and the caregivers that family gives access to.

Free tools are on the way, and when they arrive they will need no subscription and no account.

KiNBY is actively developed, so features may be added, changed or removed over time. If we remove something you rely on, we will tell you before we do it.

Free trial

New subscriptions start with a 30-day free trial. You will not be charged during it. If you cancel before the trial ends, you are not charged at all. If you do nothing, the subscription begins and the first payment is taken at the end of the trial.

Cancelling

To cancel, email support@kinby.ca from the address you subscribed with. We will cancel it and confirm by email. There is no cancellation fee and no minimum term.

The month you have paid for always finishes. Cancelling stops the next payment; it does not cut off access part-way through a month you have already paid for. Because of that, we do not refund part-months. If something has gone wrong and you think a refund is fair, email us and we will talk about it — we would rather sort it out than stand behind a policy.

If a payment fails

Cards expire and payments bounce, usually at the worst moment. So:

What "lapsed" means — and what it does not

A lapsed subscription becomes a historical record. Nothing new can be entered. Everything already entered stays readable, printable and exportable, for as long as it is on your device.

We do not delete a family's record, ever — not when a subscription lapses, not when it is cancelled. Paying again lifts the restriction and you carry on where you left off.

Your information, and who holds it

KiNBY apps keep their information on the device they are used on. A care record lives on your own iPad or computer. The one exception is KiNBY Chart's shared notes and the family's read-only copy: once your tablet is activated, it sends a copy of the chart to us automatically so you can read it at kinby.ca. That copy can never be written to, and the real record stays on your device. Both are described in our Privacy page.

Neither of those is a backup, and neither should be relied on as one. Because the record is on your device, keeping backups is your responsibility. KiNBY Chart has a backup and export function built in and reminds you to use it. If a device is lost, broken, wiped or replaced without a backup, that information is gone and we cannot recover it for you.

What you enter is yours. You can export it at any time, and you do not need our permission or a live subscription to do so.

KiNBY Connect

KiNBY Connect is where families and nurses and caregivers find each other. It is Ontario only. Families use it as part of their subscription. Nurses and caregivers join free, and these terms apply to them too, except the parts about paying.

KiNBY does not screen, verify, employ or place anyone. Every nurse and caregiver on Connect lists themselves. Checking who they are — registration, references, a police check, an interview — and deciding whether they can do the job is the family's choice alone. KiNBY is not an agency, is not a party to any arrangement you make, and is not responsible for the care provided or for anything a member says in a listing or a message.

KiNBY Gear

KiNBY Gear is where people in Ontario buy, sell, trade, or gift used care equipment. Anyone 18 or older can join free; you do not need a subscription. The Connect rules above on honesty, conduct, sharing contact details, 90-day posts, blocking and reporting apply here too.

KiNBY does not inspect, clean, test or guarantee any item, and does not verify anyone. Checking condition, fit and safety is yours, and anything medical should be confirmed with your clinician before use. KiNBY is not a party to any sale, gift or trade and does not handle payment.

What KiNBY is not

KiNBY records and displays what you enter. It is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, advise, or decide anything, and it does not check one piece of information against another — it will not, for example, check a medication against an allergy. Every threshold, rule and instruction in the app is one your family or your clinician typed in; KiNBY does the arithmetic and repeats your own words back to you.

Never rely on KiNBY to catch something. Alerts depend on information being entered correctly, on a device being working and to hand, and on the rules you set up yourself. Clinical decisions belong to you and your care team.

Using KiNBY fairly

Support and availability

Support is by email at support@kinby.ca. We read everything and we answer, though we cannot promise a set response time.

The apps are built to work offline, so a problem on our side does not normally stop you charting. We do not promise uninterrupted service, and we may need to take things down for maintenance.

Ending access

You can stop using KiNBY at any time. We may end a subscription if these terms are seriously broken, or if we stop offering the product. If we close the service down, we will give you reasonable notice and time to export everything first.

Limits on our liability

KiNBY is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost or corrupted information, or for any decision made in reliance on what the app displayed, or for the conduct of anyone you meet or hire through KiNBY Connect, or any item or exchange arranged through KiNBY Gear. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under Ontario consumer protection law that cannot be given up.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will email you at least 30 days beforehand. Carrying on using KiNBY after that means you accept the change; if you would rather not, cancel before it takes effect.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
